Re: Welcome to DeafKC Forums
A few expansions on the rules, you may know what all these terms mean but just incase you don't.
Trolling is starting a topic to try to start a fight. That being said sometimes a legitimate topic can be started that can be controversial (I have started some myself) as long as they are not specifically designed to start a fight they are fine.
Flaming is directly insulting something or someone. Insulting a sports team is one thing, I'll let it slide since I do it all the time. Insulting something like a person's religion is unacceptable, though criticizing religious leaders is acceptable.
No spamming means that you are not allowed to keep popping up with inappropriate messages or links to websites that are beyond the pale.
No hijacking simply means that you try to stay on the subject of the original topic, thread drift is okay it happens all the time, just do not bring in a totally different subject.
No lewd pictures, words, or actions this is a family friendly forum I want this to be the kind of place where parents don't have to worry about what their kids are looking at on the web.
If you have a problem with what is going on somewhere and an admin or mod has not yet acted upon it please talk to one of us we will do our best to help. Do not, and I repeat not, act like an admin yourself and start yelling it only leads to flame wars and trouble.
If you have a problem with a moderator talk to another moderator in a PM do not post your complaints in a public thread. Things will get worked settled so that hopefully everyone will be happy with the situation.
There are going to be people on this forum who are not deaf, I am one of them, please treat us with respect since the we want to learn so we can better understand deaf culture which I feel is a benefit to everybody.
Now on to the part I hate about this job which is talking about possible punishments for breaking the rules, and trust me I hope to never have to punish any of you because I'd hate that. First you will have your hand slapped and warned not to do it again, this is amazingly effective. If that doesn't work, and will give you a few warning, a temporary ban may be used, for how long will be decided by the moderators and they will all have to agree before the ban is put into effect. Lastly there will be the possibility of a permanent ban, please never make us do this.
These rules are meant to keep things friendly not to make this tyrannous dictatorship.
